Reflections; Art You Don't Just Reproduce
54Reflections
First I want to say that a reflection can be viewed as an image in a mirror, example this can be the image of our faces the first thing in the morning. This reflection lets you see if you are ready for the day ahead of you. Man made is a type of reflection. Example the shine on the polished counter that shows off the new coffee cup, these look great but can be reproduced at a drop of a polishing rag. The ones of Mother Nature are spontaneous. These can’t be replicated. These are a one time event that places the viewing public into a state of Wow! Specular Reflection the type I’m referring to is the mirror image created by a refraction of light on an object , This truly works in a setting of ponds, lakes, or just standing water. Views of this type are what I look at in the view finder of my Sony a-100 camera while working a shoot on a park trail or a wooded site around a body of water. The first thing to note is that the image will be inverted. Depending on the surface of the object mirror you could have a view with minor distortion. Add a slight breeze and your mirrored object , turtle on a tree trunk , a tree in fall colors, will have a look that is hard too put into a visible image. To sum this up; watch the weather reports, plan your photo shoots for those calm only slightly breeze days. Hope for partly cloudy days .These days are your friend for when the sun breaks through those clouds and the object mirror is calm the contrast, object, and color will be perfect.
This photo below was taken on a calm day which was also partly cloudy
